adorned with righteousness

“I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” – Is. 61.10

I’ve been busy editing weddings like crazy these last couple of weeks. So, when I read this text this morning, my mind was filled with images of brides and grooms, the rings, the jewels, the dresses, the tuxes.

As a beautiful bride is adorned for the one she loves and has been waiting for, we (who trust in Christ) are adorned by the one who loves us! And we too wait, as the bride of Christ, but we can wait greatly rejoicing in our God and praising Him for adorning us with salvation and righteousness.

“For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as  a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations.” – Is. 61.11

I love the pictures! But I especially love the Is. 61:11 verse! It reminds me that the Lord can and will cause us, as his bride, to grow to be righteous and holy no matter what we, as humans, have done to the dirt of His garden! He will overcome and that gives me hope!
