I just got back from visiting my family in Texas. It was a great trip! My grandma came to visit too. She didn’t know I was coming, so we totally surprised her! It was great! I got to have a girls day w/ my two little sisters- shopping, eating, driving and rocking out to music… fabulous! They took me to a restaurant I had never been before- Newks– soooooo good! I got to sing w/ my fam at church on Sunday. My parents recently bought a house, so I got to be in their new home, and help them w/ some decorating. I took senior pics for my youngest sister (you’ll be seeing some of those on the blog in the near future). So, I had a great trip! Family is such a wonderful blessing and gift from God! I missed my husband though, so I was also happy to get back to him and to our home.
Here’s a fun sisters self portrait
I’m loving this season! There are so many great things about spring. The colors of flowers and leaves on the trees, and the warmth of the weather are just the beginning of the joys of spring. I love being able to crack my windows and hear birds chirping in the morning. I love learning little things about landscaping and dreaming with my husband about what we can do with our yard (we plan to buy flowers, herbs, and veggies to plant this weekend). I have a beautiful cherry blossom tree that had the most amazing pink flowers- I’m sad the blooms are gone now, but my dogwood is starting to bloom, so it helps me cope :0).
I also love that with spring comes lots of photography- weddings, families, couples, seniors, kids, … you name it!
I love spring portrait sessions! Here’s a little taste of the morning spring light and an awesome couple I was able to shoot this morning (more to come soon).
I am so blessed to shoot weddings with these two amazing gals, Casey and Kristin, as part of Poiema Photography. Since Casey is in TX now, and Kristin lives downtown, every wedding is like a reunion for us! We have so much fun together. God has really blessed us as a team!!
We get a little goofy after a wedding :0)The greatest thing about spring is that we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I am so very thankful that Jesus came to earth, lived a sinless life, died on the cross bearing the penalty for the sins of the whole world, then three days later arose from the dead. I serve a living God! And because He defeated sin and death (by His own death), I can now live in the newness of the life of the risen Christ. And I live in the hope that one day I will be raised to share in eternal glory with my Savior.
I got a new toy this weekend! An old Polaroid!!! Isn’t it so cute! I’ve got some film on the way, and I can’t wait to use it. I’ve even got ideas for incorporating this baby into some of my sessions. We’re so used to the instant gratification of the lcd screen, but how much fun would it be to take home a polaroid pic (or few) from your session!
I’m loving all things vintage these days! I know it may just be a fad, but I can’t help loving it!! I already had this old camera that was my mom’s when she was a newlywed. It’s nothing fancy, but it is special. It’s too bad they don’t make film for it anymore because I love the pictures that she has from it! It’s funny to me that a lot of the editing trends these days are trying to re-produce the look that old film cameras just gave naturally. (not saying I would trade my digital though!)
The best of both worlds is around the corner. They’re re-making the Polaroid! Check it out.
